The core principle of CREA’s advocacy approach is to ensure the participation of structurally excluded groups whose voices must be heard within decision-making spaces.

Global South feminist leadership is essential to changing or influencing structures and policies at global, regional, national and local levels. We achieve this through a five Cs strategy:

CREA and its partners engage in national-level and global advocacy. Our national-level advocacy has included work against gender-based violence, anti-homosexuality and anti-trans laws and policies, and for sex workers' rights and abortion rights.

Our global advocacy includes working at the United Nations Human Rights Council and with its processes, engaging with the Commission on the Status of Women, Conference of the State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Generation Equality Action Coalition on Feminist Movements and Leadership, and Feminist Foreign Policy.

CREA works within or is a partner/ally to numerous coalitions and networks, which offers us opportunities to engage in strategic advocacy on our key issues. Some of these coalitions include:
