Storytelling Initiative - third edition

We are delighted to present the project outcomes of the third edition of the Storytelling Initiative. Once again, we received an overwhelming response from applicants across the country, from which five exceptional storytellers were selected to work on four distinct outcomes. These thought-provoking pieces – varied in form, tone, subject and length – are a labour of love and we are delighted to have been a part of this process.

In Exile: The Lives of Queer People in Kashmir

Between Silence and Survival is a reported long-form narrative that traces the lives of transgender and queer individuals in Srinagar and nearby towns.

Conversations in the Blind School Dormitory

Conversations in the Blind School Dormitory narrativizes the conversations, daily interactions and lives in the girls’ dormitory of a school for the blind in Mizoram.

Friends and Folk

Friends and Folk follows Belaku Studio, a recording studio in a remote village of Belgaum, which was founded to provide a platform for Dalit folk performers in North Karnataka.

A Pull to Infinity

A Pull to Infinity traces Joshila’s journey with Ultimate Frisbee and shows how participation in a mixed-gender sport creates space for freedom, confidence and resistance within a deeply patriarchal context.
