United to End Gender-based Violence
A CREA 16 Days Activism against Gender-based Violence Campaign
To mark 2023’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, CREA developed and ran the Visible/Invisible: United to End Gender-Based Violence campaign. Its goals were to promote an inclusive feminist approach to GBV prevention and response and to amplify the voices of trans and disabled individuals who are often overlooked in mainstream GBV conversations.
The campaign spotlighted the rights-based activism of these communities, focusing on their collective efforts to address GBV both locally and globally. It explored the unique challenges they face and advocated for more inclusive and effective feminist approaches to preventing and responding to GBV. A key focus was on ensuring access to services for all those affected by GBV.
Throughout the 16 days, CREA engaged in various in-person and online activities, including community dialogues, webinars, art competitions and blogs. These events encouraged a more inclusive dialogue on GBV and fostered cross-movement collaborations, uniting feminists, trans activists, disability rights advocates and others in a shared commitment to ending GBV.
