Dr. Renu Addlakha is Professor at the Centre for Women’s Development Studies, New Delhi. Her areas of specialisation include the sociology of medicine, mental illness and the psychiatric profession, anthropology of infectious diseases, bioethics and disability studies.

She has worked on a number of research projects supported by international agencies like the WHO, DANIDA, etc. Before joining the Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS), in 2006 she was awarded a grant by the MacArthur Foundation in India for a two-year study on disability, gender and sexuality in Delhi Currently she is engaged in multiple research projects on disability, gender, violence, and sexuality at the CWDS.
